History

Our story

The history of the KORA knitwear factory began in 1988 in the city of Zaporizhzhia.
The factory was founded with a clear vision: to establish stable production of knitwear distinguished by exceptional production quality and strong consumer value — products capable of competing on the international market while meeting the evolving needs of customers. From the very beginning, KORA’s journey has been driven by continuous development, growth, and refinement across every stage of production. This commitment to constant improvement has allowed the company to build a reliable manufacturing foundation and uphold high standards of craftsmanship throughout the years.

The beginning

History of the factory

It all started with a small rented semi-basement workshop. The first products were produced using four old flat-knitting machines and the same number of sewing machines. The company began its operations with the production of men’s jumpers, producing about 200 items per month.

Aspirations.

Development and improvement

Since its foundation, the production has been constantly developing and expanding. Over the years, the factory has undergone several stages of technical modernization and equipment upgrades. Particular attention has always been given to the implementation of advanced technologies and modern innovations — both in manufacturing equipment and software solutions — as well as to improving product quality and carefully selecting premium yarns and materials.

Stages of development 1991-1995

First technical modernization

In 1991-1995, the first technical re-equipment was carried out, which included::

  • several computer-controlled flat knitting machines manufactured under license from Protti (Italy) were purchased;
  • the production moved to its own, more spacious premises;
  • modern sewing, quilting and wet-heat treatment equipment was purchased;
  • employees’ qualifications were upgraded, and they acquired new knowledge and practical skills through training courses and universities.

Having achieved certain results thanks to the above actions, we were able to achieve such quality and consumer value of our own products that allowed us to export them to Western Europe and the CIS countries starting from 1995. During this period, the production volume reached 4000 units per month, and the product range expanded significantly.

Stages of development 1999-2002

Second technical re-equipment

In 1999-2002, the second technical re-equipment was carried out, as a result of which:

  • state-of-the-art knitting equipment from STOLL (Germany) was purchased;
  • special computer equipment for programming knitting machines was purchased;
  • a large number of modern sewing machines from Durkopp Adler, Pfaff, Juki, Union Special, etc. were purchased;
  • Advanced linking equipment from KMF, Complett was purchased;
  • the factory relocated to a more spacious building.

Significant attention was dedicated to implementing new technologies efficiently and continuously improving product quality. During this period, the company’s specialists regularly completed professional training and internships in Germany and France.

This became a defining stage of intensive growth of production capacities, technical development, and the formation of KORA’s own manufacturing expertise and craftsmanship.

Knit & Wear and Multi-Gauge

The company has mastered the Knit & Wear technology, in which a knitting machine produces a completely finished product that does not require cutting and assembly. Multi-Gauge technology was also mastered.

until 2002

From 1991-2002, the factory specialized mainly in the production of wholesale orders for export to Western Europe and neighboring countries. It has proven to be a stable and reliable partner.

с 2003

Having accumulated and honed the experience, starting in 2003, we began to develop the domestic market, producing the first batches of products under our own eponymous KORA trademark for wholesale buyers and partners.

2013

The first official retail store of the KORA brand was opened in 2013 and was located in the factory itself.
